26th June

The FaB Club on tour at the Leigh-on-Sea Folk Festival... and it is a short review this week as I was a one-(wo)man band to run the session: MC, photographer, occasionnal performer and definitely handing out leaflets to promote the club...

On this beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon, the FaB Club had decided that the beach of Leigh-on-Sea was a better place to meet than the purple room...

By 3 o'clock, I had gathered most of my flock and off we went, a little aside of the main events...

Our new friend Jem opened the session and delighted us with two traditionnal numbers and did not let the "walking " audience impede his singing...

The cheeky gulls were, for once, rightly accompanied by the sea gulls! It is quite surprising Margaret was still standing up after doing the belly dancing, the jive dancing and the line dancing!...

Paul had truly honoured the dress code of the FaB Club with his purple hat...He got everyone singing around with our favourite version of the Streets of London...

Then it was Helen's turn to entertain us with a lovely version of "Black is the colour"...

The passers-by decided to stop to watch and listen to Mick, Nora and Paul...

Jane was the only one of us who was truly prepared...We all had our sun cream and sunglasses but quite a few of us were without script or batteries...

Tony followed...

A special guest: Monnie Aldous from Romford Folk Club who gave an excellent accapella version of her funny song, the Plug-in Man ( yes, we would all like one of those ladies!) and of The Patio Song...

A new duo was up next, Mick in his shorts and Paul without his hat...

Thanks to all for coming along to play or to listen, it was a truly special afternoon singing and playing by the sea...
